A Golden Opportunity

If you are interested in pre-wiring your home for automation, security, computer, telephone, audio and video then you will not get a better opportunity to install the necessary cabling than during a Self Build or renovation project (also see our section on central vacuum systems). Don't miss it!!!

In this section, we will attempt to answer some common questions that self builders have. If you want more information on the individual subject categories, click on the links above or call sales on 01661-844159. If you want to know more about integrating them into your home during a self build see below.

What will a pre-wired home do for me?
Many things.
Firstly, by installing as many wires as seems sensible today, you can future proof your home against new developments that may occur during the lifetime of the house.
Then there are the things that you can't afford to install on day one, but would like to install when the funds build up again. For example, a whole house audio system.
And finally there are the devices that you want immediately such as a security system, telephone and computer network, TV/video around the home, irrigation system etc.
The fact is, if you don't install them during the build process, the cost and inconvenience involved installing them in the future may be prohibitive.

Can I do the work myself?
As with most technical products, some parts of the installation are more difficult than others. In general, the first fix installation of the cabling is fairly straight forward and if you can install electrical cable, then with a few extra pointers you will be able to install all of the cable for your system. Where things get more complicated is at the final fix and setting up stage. Special tools are required for the termination of some of the cables and specialist knowledge needed for the setup of the system. It is certainly possible to buy the necessary tools and to read the manuals to gain the knowledge to allow you to set the system up, but you may find it more cost effective to sub-contract the termination and setup to professionals with the required skills. We are able to work with you on a sub-contact basis where you can carry out as much of the work as you feel confident doing and we can step in to do the rest. If you would like to discuss the options in more detail, please call sales on 01661-844159

How much does it cost?

A difficult question to answer as there are a large number of variables. The cost will vary depending on the complexity of the installation and the quality of the components used. The following can be considered very much as guide prices.

Whole House Audio to four rooms from four sources including keypads and speakers approx £3000.

Home Cinema £3-8000.

Security/Automation System with cameras £3-15000.
